Common questions

Does Kept upload my photos?
No. Kept runs entirely on your iPhone. Your photos, and the way it groups people, never leave your device — there's no account and no cloud.

Why does Kept ask for photo access?
It needs to read your library to find duplicates, screenshots, blurry shots and similar bursts, and to group the people in your photos — all on-device. Without access there's nothing for it to clean.

I deleted something by accident — can I get it back?
Yes. Kept never deletes without your confirmation, and confirmed deletions go to Apple's Recently Deleted album, where they stay recoverable for 30 days before iOS removes them for good.

The people grouping looks wrong. Can I fix it?
Yes. You can merge two piles that are the same person, split a mixed one apart, or skip a suggestion that's wrong — Kept learns from your corrections and gets more accurate over time.

What are Labs — Travel Map, Orbit and Timelapse?
Labs are extras built from the people and places already in your photos, all on-device. Travel Map animates a year of your trips into a shareable video, Orbit shows who you spend the most time with, and Timelapse turns one person across the years into a few-second clip. They need a face scan first — find them under the Labs tab.

Does the Travel Map upload my location?
No. The Travel Map reads the GPS already saved in your photos' metadata, entirely on your iPhone, to trace where you went. Nothing — no location, no photo — is uploaded, and the video is rendered on-device.

How do I manage or cancel Kept Pro?
Kept Pro is an optional subscription billed by Apple. Manage or cancel it anytime in your App Store account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions).
